Who's Who of Veronica Mars — R

R., Dale

A student in Future Business Leaders of America. Is Dale an 09er? Judging by his imaginary stock portfolio, one would hope that he's got a good inheritance to fall back on. Dale R not too good at imaginary stock-trading in 2.15 "The Quick and the Wed."

Rachel

In the classifieds. The illegibility of her advertisement taunts us, as only the odd words or phrases can be seen — like "experience," "not cheap," and "a night you'll never forget." Whether a promise of hot, steamy sex, or an invitation to meet a recently divorced Friends star and Vince Vaughn, she shares column inches with Miss Sabrina in 1.17 "Kanes and Abel's."

-Inigo

Rachel Wall-Polin
See Wall-Polin, Rachel
Radiohead

Band whose music might be said to be less than optimistic. There, there, Veronica. While you were climbing up the walls in misery, Duncan left you high and dry to sulk over your bad temper. But he's not a total creep - just thinking about you, wanting you fitter, happier. Put your emotions in limbo and go to sleep, girl, then you and Duncan won't be such a case of 2+2=5. He'll keep everything in its right place for you, and, if you are lucky, teach you how to disappear completely. I might be wrong about that being what you think you want, but there were no surprises here when the Donut misjudged your mood in 2.02 "Driver Ed."

-Inigo

Rafe

Hearst College student. Shawn Rafe is in Cory Logan and Eric's Wallace's sociology class and participated in Mr. Feeny's Dr. Kinny's prisoner/guard experiment with them. He managed to turn into a sadistic guard in two seconds flat. Something tells me this boy needs to meet the world. Or not. Rafe's a jerk in 3.02 "My Big Fat Greek Rush Week" and he get busted for having Minkus Horshack take his test for him in 3.06 "Hi, Infidelity." Topanga!

Played by Rider Strong.
Rafter, Seth

Student at Neptune High. Gay, proud, and smart, Seth is a willing helper in bringing Tad down in 1.20 "M.A.D."

-Inigo

Played by Robert Clark.
Rain

Aka Debbie Meyer, a Moon Calf Collective member who has found a better life, although she'd still give her body for a chocolate taco ice cream dessert in 1.09 "Drinking the Kool-Aid."

-Inigo

Played by Megalyn Echikunwoke.
Rainer Maria

Indie rock band from Wisconsin named after German-language poet Rainer Maria Rilke. Mercer sits in front of his Rainer Maria poster as he grabs some more GHB, spurred on by Veronica's blowing her rape whistle quite loudly. It's strange how the ears ring after a night of wrongdoing. Mercer needs contact daily, his conscience is failing in 3.09 "Spit & Eggs."

-Polter-Cow

Rainier, Judy

Hearst freshman from Los Angeles. With a name like Judy Rainier, it seems like she should be from Seattle. You know, Mt. Rainier? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Judy doesn't have a place-appropriate name in 3.07 "Of Vice and Men."

-funky-donut

Rake, Senator

Kane connection in Washington. Jake wants Duncan to apply for an internship with him. Duncan just wants to drift away in the pool in 1.03 "Meet John Smith."

-Inigo

The Rakes

Brit band whose poster is up at the Pi Sigma Sigma house. Made up of four skinny guys (hence the name), they've toured with Franz Ferdinand, the Buzzcocks, and other Brit-y bands. Don't know, they just seem a bit too...British for the frat bros in 3.04 "Charlie Don't Surf," and we don't find out enough about Sully to know if they're really his type in 3.07 "Of Vice and Men."

-funky-donut

All bios: 3.07 3.04
Rakes, Kate

Elected to the Homecoming running, and it would seem she could be the queen. Who is Kate Rakes, or is it Race or Brace? Why do intercoms make diction fiction? Did she dress for success on the night of the fight, or stay at home, waiting by the phone for that special boy as her escort to employ? None know it, for they don't show it in 2.05 "Blast from the Past."

-Inigo

Ralph

A cartoon wolf. Every day, Ralph punches in his timecard and chats with his colleague, Sam the sheepdog. Every day, Ralph tries to eat sheep. Every day Sam stops him, pummeling him into goo on each occasion. And every night, they clock out with a cheery farewell. Aww. Vinnie sees Veronica as the wolf in 2.11 "Donut Run."

-Inigo

Ramirez,

Person paired up with Marty...somehow. Ramirez could be a deputy on duty, and Marty could be his partner. Or maybe all the people that work at the Sheriff's Department were playing a game on the whiteboard and this is a list of teammates! They could have been playing Hangman or Cranium or — ooh! — Pictionary! I bet Sacks would be really good at Pictionary! It might have been all fun and games for the 5-0 in 3.15 "Papa's Cabin."

-funky-donut

Ramm, Kellee

Hearst freshman from Denver whose parents didn't know how to spell. Kellee might be happee or luckee or gaee, or, man, she might even be giddee, but it's hard to tell from just that picture in the Facebook in 3.07 "Of Vice and Men."

-funky-donut

Ramone Goose
See Goose, Ramone
Ramones

Band. If you were to guess which of the Fab Four had this sticker on the door of their locker, would you be right? Who would be cool enough to celebrate the first punk band? Duncan?! Well! Pre-season one, the boy had cred. So the next question is, when did he give it to Veronica Mars, in whose locker it now resides? Check for yourself in 1.13 "Lord of the Bling" and 2.08 "Ahoy, Mateys!"

-Inigo

All bios: 2.08 1.13
Ramos, John

A coconut. You know, brown on the outside, white on the inside? Clearly, this Ramos character is not staying true to his Hispanic heritage. For starters, his name's John and not Juan. Could he be any more Anglo-Saxon? Geez, you'd think he was some sort of baron or something. Couched in mystery, this Neptune High student is merely a pawn in Arturo's ploy for PCHer power in 2.14 "Versatile Toppings."

-Polter-Cow

Rams

An 09er.
Who?
Rams.
Who the heck is Rams?
No idea.
Then why is he here?
Dickface mentioned him as one of the 09ers that was going to meet him and Logan and Cassidy to set the grass alight on Pan High's football field.
Oh. Not real rams then?
No.
Shame.
Yeah.
I could get behind real rams.
Yeah. Problem is, I reckon Dick could too, and they already snuck in the Shocker gesture.
Oh, yeah. Maybe another time.
Rams avoids being another innuendo in 2.01 "Normal Is the Watchword."

-Inigo

Rancid

Punk band. What, with a name like Rancid, you weren't expecting them to be a smooth jazz trio, did you? No, they're one of the big names in modern punk rock and have been since the nineties. Logan's destination is not unknown: it's Piz's face. Black coat, white shoes, black hat, Cadillac; the boy's a time bomb in 3.19 "Weevils Wobble But They Don't Go Down."

-Polter-Cow

-wyk

Played by John J. York.
Randall, Barry

Randi Doyle
See Doyle, Randi
Randolph, Thurman

The Rev. Capistrano's Chief Financial Officer and a secret pro-life activist. He featured in a controversial episode of Veronica Mars, one which touched on the pro-life/pro-choice debate, but was even-handed, coming down on neither one side or the other. To do so, there were good people and there were bad people on both sides. Thurman, being bad people, and arrogant to boot, just skirted the jerk/asswipe debate by judging the distressed "Hester" on her hemline in 3.12 "There's Got To Be A Morning After Pill."

-Inigo

Played by Vince Grant.
Randolph, Willie

Former baseball player, current manager of the New York Mets. We here at MI.net are not much fans of baseball, or any sport (besides Calvinball) for that matter, so we cannot really think of any jokes to put in here. Make up your own, or gossip like Jackie does in 2.20 "Look Who's Stalking."

-alliterator

Randy

Dick's surfboard shaper. That sounds dirty. How about the man who shapes Dick's surfboard, is that better? What we know is that all his loving craftmanship went for nothing. But it was for a good cause. Hey, Veronica? Has stepping on the gas ever felt so satisfying? See the surfboard splinter in 1.21 "A Trip to the Dentist."

-Inigo

Randy #2

I am the very model of a karaoke singer guy.
Public domain keeps producers from spending not one finger fry.
Java the Hut is where I sing my stunning aural composites,
But though I leave my jar out it is bare of any deposits.
I choose the G&S because it is a rather sunny tune,
But people look at me as if I am some kind of funny loon.
One day soon I'll join the lowly ranks of the sick and the dead,
So hear me but don't see me in 2.15 "The Quick and the Wed."

-Polter-Cow

Randy #3

Convenience store clerk. Inconveniently, he doesn't remember seeing Professor Hank Landry the night of Dean O'Dell's murder. However, he knows exactly when the shift change occurs for the strip joint across the street. A kindly, down-on-her-luck "Catholic school girl" who smuggles cantaloupes in her shirt thinks that Randy is the only man on the planet who isn't scum in 3.15 "Papa's Cabin."

-starxdsparrow

Played by Benjamin Seay.
Rashad Krimani
See Krimani, Rashad
Rat Boy

Juvenile delinquent, possessor of a very strange accent, stealer of stuff. Rat Boy is the curly-haired moppet who files a false report with Veronica about who stole all of Piz's worldly possessions. He also calls overweight women "heifers," which is just charming, in 3.01 "Welcome Wagon."

-funky-donut

Played by Jesse Fremont Allis.
Ratched, Mildred

The battleaxe nurse in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. She is a study of the corrupting influence of absolute power and of institutional sadism. Logan Echolls is perhaps indulging his tendency to exaggerate in so describing the school nurse who was warm-hearted enough to be concerned at his tears in 2.03 "Cheatty Cheatty Bang Bang."

-Inigo

Ratner, Jeff

Ratsie

Pi Sigma-ite. It's hard to decide what's more interesting about this frat boy. Do we spend time wondering why exactly his nickname is Ratsie? Or do we assume that it's a reference to his appearance and guess that's why he only has five points? Do we try to figure out why the only memento he has on the scoreboard seems to be a "legalize marijuana" bumper sticker? Or maybe we can just write him off as a neanderthal pig and cease thinking about him at all. Yeah, that sounds like a good idea in 2.16 "The Rapes of Graff."

-public displays of lust

Raver

He wants to get the party started, but the stuffiness of the Fuller home crushes his festive spirits before they can take off in 1.17 "Kanes and Abel's."

Reception Clerk at Hotel

This brunette beauty falls for the wiles of the two smartest P.I.s in Neptune when Veronica and Keith convince her that Veronica has been impregnated by an unknown assailant in one of her hotel rooms. She gives up the goods to help solve the credit card mystery in 1.02 "Credit Where Credit's Due."

-topanga

Played by Tina Molina.
Receptionist

Desk clerk at the Sheriff's department. Inga's surprisingly hot weekend sub is easily fooled by Veronica's rather impromptu disguise in 1.02 "Credit Where Credit's Due."

-grimsqueaker

Played by Leslie Durso.
Rechif, Tyler

Hearst freshman from Klamath Falls. Tyler secretly dreams of being fired from a fry-cook opportunity. We know this from looking at his picture in 3.07 "Of Vice and Men."

-Polter-Cow

Redding, Prosecutor Mitch

Balboa County prosecutor. Where did Jake find this guy? And why is he in such a bad mood? My guess is Clarence Wiedman, Jr. snatched him up off the dock of the bay, where he was wastin' time watching the tide roll away. Poor guy — I hate when my lunch breaks are interrupted, too. Mitch doesn't get to watch the ships roll into 'Frisco bay in 3.20 "The Bitch Is Back."

-starxdsparrow

Played by Kevin Symons.
Redenbacher, Orville

Popcorn king. An entrepreneur and agronomist in the mid-20th century, he devoted his life to creating the perfect popcorn and eventually created the best-selling brand of popcorn in the United States. He was also in a fraternity when he was in college, but that doesn't have anything to do with anything. Or does it? On this show, you never know. Maybe Orville is the rapist...from beyond the grave. Either way, he's Mason's secret weapon in 3.05 "President Evil."

-fulfilled

Redford, Robert

Actor, director, producer, and hunk. From the Sundance Kid to the horse whisperer, from barefoot in the park to the clearing via the river that runs through it, Redford is far from being ordinary people. As Bob Woodward in All the President's Men, he cultivated his own Deep Throat and brought down a tricky Dick. A pin-up boy for journalists everywhere, Redford graces the walls of the journalism class in every episode, including 1.05 "You Think You Know Somebody."

-Inigo

Reed, Edward

Making up the numbers on the school board in 1.14 "Mars vs. Mars."

-Inigo

Reggie

One of Leanard Lobo's goons. Palookas. Lackeys. Minions. You get the idea. I wonder if he hangs out with Moose or Archie Andrews? He certainly won't be going out with anybody named Veronica, that's for sure, in 2.14 "Versatile Toppings."

-alliterator

Reggie #2

Security guard at the Neptune Grand and old friend of Keith who (if he's got any idea how to have a good time) probably spends his entire day watching people on closed-captioned surveillance video. It's convenient when your daughter dates a kid so rich he's got a permanent suite at a ritzy hotel with lots and lots of cameras; most fathers have to settle for making intimidating comments when the new beau comes for dinner. Still, there's only so far this law-abiding man can go for even the most noble P.I. in 3.13 "Postgame Mortem."

-ninamazing

Played by Jay Brian Winnick.
Reh, Charles

Hearst freshman from San Diego. Hey, maybe this guy is for real! Like, he's some dude in San Diego who took a picture of himself by a chain-link fence and maybe left it on a bench outside the studio. And Rick sat down and felt something on his butt and looked at the picture and thought, "Hey, this guy looks like a typical Hearst freshman!" Yes, that's definitely why Charles Reh appears in 3.07 "Of Vice and Men."

-Polter-Cow

Reid, Bob

Prospective employee for Timothy Foyle. He called Foyle's mentor to get a recommendation for Tim and instead got...not much of a recommendation. One would assume he didn't hire Tim after hearing from Landry that he could do better, but then it wouldn't really matter, since Tim confessed to murder in 3.15 "Papa's Cabin."

-funky-donut

Reid, Tara

An "actress" much in the same way Paris Hilton is an actress. She's starred in such movies as American Pie, American Pie 2 My Boss's Daughter (because co-starring with Ashton Kutcher = disaster), and Alone in the Dark, which just goes to show where her career is heading. She's considered for the part of Trina in 2.01 "Normal Is the Watchword", and her beach parties in Ibiza are mentioned in 2.06 "Rat Saw God."

-Polter-Cow

All bios: 2.06 2.01

-Inigo

Renny DeMouy
See DeMouy, Renny
Reporter

She's no Clark Kent when it comes to investigative journalism, but she hits Sheriff Lamb with incisive questions about the class divide in Neptune and the nature of the bus crash in 2.02 "Driver Ed."

-Polter-Cow

Played by Lee Ann Kim.
Reporter #2

More reactionary than...actionary, she pretty much just asks for clarification about things. I mean, how many journalism classes did she have to take to come up with "Such as?" in 2.02 "Driver Ed"?

-Polter-Cow

Played by Lauren Krause.
Restaurant Manager

Sympathetic to Veronica's plight, she hands out confident data and implicates Clarence Wiedman, Jr. as a blackmailing fiend and passable photographer in 1.09 "Drinking the Kool-Aid."

-grimsqueaker

Played by Inger Tudor.
Restless Student

Some dude. He has nothing to say to the Rent-a-Cops but "That rug really tied the room together." Or something comparably useless. He doesn't even get a name; you can't expect him to have an important line! He is Restless Student, abiding but not confiding in 3.05 "President Evil."

-Polter-Cow

Played by Matthew Barker.
The Retriever

Veronica's alias when writing a blackmailing email to Pop. Whilst Veronica might be a whiz at bringing back the quarry, her canine namesake is most valued for its soft mouth and great willingness to please, learn, and obey. These are not really the traits one associates with Miss Mars, particularly in 3.03 "Wichita Linebacker."

-Inigo

Retzinger, Tammy "Dragon"

Classmate of Lianne Mars neé Reynolds from the class of '79. Somewhere between hockey and the debating team, she studied enough to make the honor roll. Like Logan, she is inspired by Eleanor Roosevelt. The reason for her fearsome nickname is perhaps the only interesting mystery of 1.07 "The Girl Next Door."

-Inigo

The Reveler

Pseudonym for one of the PiSS frat jerks at Hearst College. Revel in his published score of 150 and its square root, coincidentally the same as his IQ, in 2.16 "The Rapes of Graff."

-grimsqueaker

Reverend

He'd rather fulfill his duties than hang around with the horrible Mann family. The happy bride agrees with him in 2.15 "The Quick and the Wed."

-grimsqueaker

Played by Jack Owen.
Reyes, Marisol

Murdered little girl. She disappeared the day Lilly died. There was no attention to spare for her and her body was found three months later. Weevil tells Rebecca James that this is the reason he acted violently when she first counseled him; that it was not about Lilly. While we have no doubt that the sheriff's department concentrated on Lilly at the expense of the doomed girl from the barrio, Weevil is telling porkies (Noun. Lies, from the rhyming slang pork-pies.) in 1.12 "Clash of the Tritons."

-Inigo

Reyes, Scarlett

A freshman from Chula Vista in the Freshman Facebook, her picture was circled by either Sully or Glen (though Meryl claimed Sully's circles were prettier). She was going to meet Sully for a studying session...that was actually for studying. She comforts Meryl, blowing Veronica's mind for a second time. I guess those clothes were from Dolce & Gabbana's Study Buddy catalogue in 3.07 "Of Vice and Men."

-alliterator

Reynaud, Carter

A freshman from Tempe in the Freshman Facebook. Could he be related to Charles-Émile Reynaud, creator of the first animated film? Or Paul Reynaud, Prime Minister of the Third French Republic? Or perhaps Jean Reynaud, a French socialist philosopher? Does he have Reynaud's disease? Okay, probably none of the above, but otherwise, this bio would be really boring. Carter is probably not a French politician-socialist-animator with restricted blood in 3.07 "Of Vice and Men."

-alliterator

Reynolds, Madeline

Mother of Lianne Mars. Veronica wishes her grandmother was still around to ask for advice after she finds out she has chlamydia. Is that really something you would discuss with your grandmother? No one wants to hear their darling granddaughter managed to get themselves an STD. Perhaps she would have told Veronica that when life gives you lemons, make lemonade, but when life gives you chlamydia, take the antibiotics the doctor gives you and stay away from nasty boys. Grandma Reynolds signed Lianne's highschool record in 2.09 "My Mother, the Fiend" and her wisdom is invoked in 2.20 "Look Who's Stalking."

-leila6

Richardson, Tyson

Little Leaguer. Fortunately for him, his parents weren't abusive or neglectful, so Coach Woody never felt the need to take good care of him. At least we hope so. Tyson's early sports career was blissfully uneventful (or was it?) in 2.22 "Not Pictured."

-grimsqueaker

Richie

Student and jock at Pan High. He's kind of sweet and kind of sweet on Betty. Hm. Does this sound familiar? The writers enjoy the Archie parallels with a lookalike in 1.16 "Betty and Veronica."

-Inigo

Played by Kyle Searles.
Richie, Nicole

Celebrity and one-half of Dumb and Dumber. I leave you to decide which is which. Richie and Hilton starred in the hideously bad "reality" show The Simple Life, and she's the adopted daughter of Lionel Richie. Trina Echolls did the world a favor when she shot her with a BB gun, as we learned in 3.04 "Charlie Don't Surf."

-alliterator

Rick

Neptune High student and mediocre forger. Rick tries to frame Veronica for fake ID manufacture. Anyone who would wear a sweater that geeky should know better than to tangle with a member of the Mars family. Like father, like son, Rick's dishonesty is exposed, with rather more style than Rick has, in 1.12 "Clash of the Tritons."

-wyk

Played by J.D. Pardo.
Rick #2

Someone who leaves his number on Parker's whiteboard outside her room. We don't know much about Rick, but we've decided he's studying law and has traveled to Neptune all the way from Maine. He drives a blue Toyota Corolla that used to belong to his mom. His last two girlfriends have been brunettes, but the relationships ended badly. Hey, maybe Russle went to Cambodia and named the money after himself? Okay, probably not. But his humiliating name is preserved like a bug in amber on Jake Kane's hard drive in 3.20 "The Bitch Is Back."

-alliterator

Riggleman, Victoria

Classmate of Lianne Mars neé Reynolds from the class of '79. Was his father Johnny Cash, seeking to toughen up his son? How did this kid survive kindergarten? He/she must have a real sense of humor to choose Voltaire's "God is a comedian" as his/her inspirational quote. This Victor/Victoria in the flesh is featured in full living color black and white in the year book in 1.07 "The Girl Next Door."

-Inigo

Riley, J.B.

Neptune High Student. It's almost cute that J.B. believes himself to be Veronica's nemesis. Okay, sure, he's trailing just behind her in the competition for the Kane Scholarship. And yeah, his place in the Tritons probably indicates a comfortable social standing. But come on. Who leaves the test they're trying to sneakily copy for nefarious purposes in the freaking photocopier? Incompetence is, as ever, evil's greatest downfall in 2.13 "Ain't No Magic Mountain High Enough."

-marksoflove

Played by Jake Sandvig.
rishiMangTok

Email correspondent of Dick Casablancas. Foreign exchange student? Unfortunate sneeze during email account signup? Typing under the influence? We'll never know what rishi ("Tok" to his friends) was thinking or whether he appreciated Dick's "Emission to Mars" forward in 3.20 "The Bitch Is Back."

-misskiwi

Ritter, Josh

Singer/songwriter with some pretty awesome hair. He's so dreamy! That may be why Phyllis has a poster of him on her wall. Or she could just like his music, all folksy and down-home Idaho. It's a long way to heaven, but it's closer to Hearst in 3.12 "There's Got To Be A Morning After Pill."

-Polter-Cow

Rival Frat Guy

Non-Pi Sig. You think he's mean for mocking Chip Diller after his humiliating Easter-egg ordeal, but really, he's only using every opportunity to practice for his future career as a musical star in 3.08 "Lord of the Pi's."

-grimsqueaker

Played by Chase Penny.
Rivers, Melissa

Minor celebrity and daughter of the better-known Joan Rivers. Can we talk? Melissa's claim to fame is being her mother's daughter. Trina's claim to fame is being her (adopted) father's daughter. The parallels are scary. Kendall Casablancas may be a ho, but she does know how to strike a low blow when she engages Trina in a battle of wits in 2.09 "My Mother, the Fiend."

-Inigo

Rob

Amateur homeless boxer. We're guessing with the name here, as the guy doesn't speak with much diction and Logan is too engrossed in his role of M.C. to say it properly. Closed caption says it's Robble Robble, but come on! What does happen is that Logan embellishes Rob's stuttered utterance to Robbo Robber, or Robble Robble, to match the flair of other boxer's name. Does Lightning Mike have flair? From Neptune, he is one of the stars of The Smoking Gun exposé that embarrasses Aaron in 1.06 "Return of the Kane."

Roberts, John G.

Bush-appointed Supreme Court judge and Chief Justice. He features in the World Can't Wait-Drive Out the Bush Regime Steering Committee statement read out at rallies around the country on October 5, 2006, adopted by students at Hearst for an anti-government rally announced on the notice board: "In just the past year we have seen government spying bolted into law; Alito and Roberts installed in the Supreme Court, the Patriot Act passed again, theocratic anti-abortion and anti-gay laws spreading intolerance; war in Iraq more murderous; war on Lebanon approved and fuelled; war on Iran in preparation, torture legalized...." A poster on the Pirate's S.H.I.P. forum who asks "Does he have to know?" Know what? Know how to multiply? Know how to spell? Know that you're gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide? Wait, it's probably that last one in 2.14 "Versatile Toppings."

-alliterator

Rockford, Jim

Popular trailer-dwelling private investigator. Wallace fondly endows his BFF with this moniker in 1.15 "Ruskie Business."

-Inigo

Rockwell, Norman

Famous 20th Century American painter. Norman was well-known for his numerous Saturday Evening Post covers that would depict some portrait of "normal" American life. Norman obviously never visited Neptune in 2.22 "Not Pictured."

-alliterator

Rockwell, Sam

Actor. Has played everything from the dual-identitied Guy Fleegman/Security Chief "Roc" Ingersol to the dual-headed Zaphod Beeblebrox. Somewhere in the middle there, he managed to star in Matchstick Men with Nicolas Cage, which is why his name appears in 2.04 "Green-Eyed Monster."

-Polter-Cow

Rocky

Pool cleaner at the Sunset Cliffs Apartments, home of Veronica Mars. Veronica, don't you think you should use your P.I. skills to do a background check on his pool cleaning abilities? And if that involves taking a swim in that pool while wearing a pink bikini, well...no one said being a P.I. was easy. Rocky skims the pool in 1.07 "The Girl Next Door."

-wyk

Played by Rocky Reilly.
Rocky Balboa
See Balboa, Rocky
Rod Serling
See Serling, Rod
Rodney

Wanda Varner supporter. He hoped she would give the 09ers hell. We wonder if he wants her to "go to hell" now it is known that she is a narc in 1.06 "Return of the Kane."

-wyk

Rodney Smithey
See Smithey, Rodney
Rodney #2

Someone who wants Piz to call him, according to Piz's whiteboard. Could this be Rodney Goodman? Could Piz be the secret Goodman brother? Could I be overspeculating? Find out next week!!! No, wait, sorry. He's probably just some guy that knows Piz in 3.09 "Spit & Eggs."

-alliterator

Rodney Goodman

Rodriguez, Carlos

Person sending Woody Goodman an email. Subject of the email: "Need to speak with you after practice." Is Carlos Rodriguez a baseball player for the Sharks? Well, we suppose he could have been referring to cello practice, but it's probably a safe bet that Carlos Rodriguez is called C-Rod and takes steroids vitamins. C-Rod sent email to the Wood-man in 2.21 "Happy Go Lucky."

-funky-donut

Roger

An employee of the Beacon Corporation. At the smile of a pretty girl, he turns Super, except, not so much. He proves useless in turning on a car tracking device in 1.05 "You Think You Know Somebody."

-Inigo

Played by Ryan Drummond.
Roger #2

Veronica's dead uncle, who may or may not be real, and may or may not be dead. Veronica wanted to nail a psychic and so spun a tale about which inhabitant of the underworld she wished to hear from. Imagine her surprise when Uncle Roger turned into a jealous Lilly in 2.05 "Blast from the Past."

-Inigo

Roger Hearst
See Hearst, Roger
Roger, I.

Cora's computer tech teacher. Computer tech teacher, hmmmm...

Dear Mr./Ms. Roger, would you mind sparing a few moments of your time to give our webteam some.html/mySQL/.htaccess/CSS advice in 2.05 "Blast from the Past"?

-wyk

Rogers, K.

Teacher of English. Cora Briggs doesn't get the lovely Mrs Murphy. Instead, she must learn her English from the mysterious Mrs./Mr./Miss/Ms./Prof./Dr./Rev./Hon. K. Rogers. Of course, Cora's English actually seems pretty good to us, so she's probably coasting in 2.05 "Blast from the Past."

-Inigo

Rogers, Robert

Yet another member of the Castle. A pillar of society all his life, Rogers steadfastly denied having led a secret life of danger and intrigue as a space-faring adventurer in his youth. Jake Kane's files on him could probably shed new light on this intriguing mystery, but sadly, they are not disclosed to us in 3.20 "The Bitch Is Back."

-grimsqueaker

Roldan, Alicia

Aaron's co-star in The Long Haul, his first movie. But why would Alicia Roldan be emailing Veronica "CUTE pics"? Hmmmm. Alicia's name is on a poster in 2.03 "Cheatty Cheatty Bang Bang" and she sends Veronica an email in 2.06 "Rat Saw God."

-Inigo

Rolling Stones

Long in the tooth band. Second only to the The Beatles in popularity in the sixties, they have gone and on and on and on... Lothario and teacher Chuck Rooks uses side two of Tattoo You to seduce in 1.14 "Mars vs. Mars."

-Inigo

Romeo

The original lovesick fool and used to describe others in a similar condition. Given the character's end, and stalker laws, modern day Romeos might want to rethink their strategies. Veronica searches for Meg's Romeo in 1.15 "Ruskie Business" and for Trina's less savory one in 1.19 "Hot Dogs."

-Inigo

Ronald

One of the 4400. Or thereabouts. Names. In a phone book. Here is a screenshot. Make up your own snark. Make up your own last name, something preceding Feniress. We're too lazy. Damn you, Rick, and your attention to detail in 2.03 "Cheatty Cheatty Bang Bang."

-Inigo

Ronald #2

Middle-school student and future misogynist of America. Shocked that little-old-females can work for the FBI, Ronald is taken down a peg by Veronica's smug remarks. Clearly, the kid has never watched The Silence of the Lambs in 3.16 "Un-American Graffiti."

-bethgee

Played by Tyler Foden.
Ronald Fenmore
See Fenmore, Ronald
Roofie, Mr.

No, not Logan's nickname (he would be Mr. GHB, actually), but rather a name on the Pi Sigma scoreboard. If he lives up to his name, Veronica may have missed a very important clue in 2.16 "The Rapes of Graff."

-alliterator

Rookie Deputy

Naïve newbie on the Neptune force. This fine gentleman wants to actually — gasp — take a bomb threat from Hearst seriously, but Deputy Jerry Sacks has become jaded from hanging around a bumbling, arrogant fool for too long and dissuades him, claiming that the Hearst Campus Police will take care of it. Had the new guy won the argument they would have been on hand to rescue Veronica, but she manages to find someone else to do it in 3.09 "Spit & Eggs."

-fulfilled

Played by Artie O'Daly.
Rooks, Chuck

History teacher at Neptune High. He's so popular, the girls are just lining up to have his babies in 1.14 "Mars vs. Mars."

-Inigo

Played by Adam Scott.
Rooks, Olivia

Daughter of Chuck Rooks. Spawn of perverts don't come much cuter. She's adorable, silent and a potential for the "I Hate Veronica" club in 1.14 "Mars vs. Mars."

-Inigo

Played by Olivia Milo Pence.
Roosevelt, Eleanor

Wife of the 32nd president of the United States and one hell of a woman. Although Veronica is less roused by her writings, Tammy Retzinger and Logan find them inspirational in 1.07 "The Girl Next Door" and 1.15 "Ruskie Business."

-Inigo

Rorschach, Hermann

A Swiss Freudian psychiatrist best known for developing the Rorschach Inkblot Test. Unfortunately, he never wore a mask of continually shifting black and white liquids or jumped out from inside refrigerators. Veronica thinks her coffee-stained shirt looks curiously like a Rorshach test in 2.05 "Blast from the Past."

-alliterator

Rory Finch
See Finch, Rory
Rose

Girl who got her stuff stolen by the Welcome Wagon. Only memorable because she was a junior and not a freshman, like the others. Briefly considered and discarded as a suspect by Veronica. Her full name must be Rose Red Herring in 3.01 "Welcome Wagon."

-alliterator

Played by Jessica Scheid.
Rose McGowan
See McGowan, Rose
Rose, Budd

The wheelchair-bound husband of Selma Hearst Rose. Because of his chair imprisonment, he feels the need to prove his virility with as many women as possible, conveniently forgetting he is already married. Among his conquests is a college-aged dogwalker, with whom he plots to frame his wife for a scandalous lesbian affair. Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of his life. Well, at least it wasn't the nanny in 3.08 "Lord of the Pi's.".

-tallow

Played by Charles Shaughnessy.
Rose Manning

Rose, Pete

Baseball player who bet exTENsively on baseball. His gambling record is particularly infamous because of his inability to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. So now, Terrence Cook has to make a choice: does he want to be Pete Rose or O.J. Simpson? Can mass murderers be inducted into the Hall of Fame? At least he didn't kill any baseball players! Terrence isn't sure where to place his bets in 2.14 "Versatile Toppings."

-Polter-Cow

Rose, Selma Hearst

The granddaughter of the founder of Hearst College and heir to the Hearst-Mart fortune. Apparently, she was quite the advocate of flower power in her younger days — she flew over a ghetto in 1973 and dumped out her entire trust fund, causing riots. She's also the swing vote on the board of trustees at Hearst and wants to stop using Asian products in Hearst-Mart, giving enough motive for someone to kidnap her. Though it turns out that she was being blackmailed by her husband after a lesbian encounter with her dogwalker. Don't blame Selma, she's just a poor misunderstood old person in 3.08 "Lord of the Pi's."

-alliterator

Played by Patricia Hearst.
Rosebud

Name of that sled in Citizen Kane. Much like Charles Foster Kane's old toy is a symbol for his lost childhood and his inability to love, the Wannabes album I Am God could be a symbol for someone in Neptune having a scarily big ego and precious little concern for his fellow beings — someone who, say, may have caused a school bus to go over a cliff. Or maybe it's just a clue that Marcos Oliveres really liked to indulge in creative vandalism in 2.18 "I Am God."

-grimsqueaker

Rosemary

Character in the film Rosemary's Baby. When names Logan "Neptune High Cock of the Walk" for the 40th consecutive week, he describes him as "Rosemary's Baby, the teen years." The gamine Mia Farrow spent the duration of the movie in a state of terror, fearing that she was giving birth to the devil. She did, but she loved it anyway, just as Lynn loved her little imp...until she stepped off the Coronado Bridge. The Cap'n makes the connection in 2.08 "Ahoy, Mateys!", repeated in 2.18 "I Am God."

Rosencrantz

A minor character in Shakespeare's Hamlet. Apparently, he and some friend of his have passed on. He is no more! He has ceased to be! He's expired and gone to meet his maker! He's a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in peace! He's pushing up daisies! His metabolic processes are now history! He's off the twig! He's kicked the bucket, he's shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain, and joined the choir invisible! At least, that's the rumor. However, despite the fact that he's an ex-Rosencrantz, he, along with the play from which he hailed, is still being studied by Mr. Daniel's lit class in 1.07 "The Girl Next Door."

-public displays of lust

Rosie O'Donnell
See O'Donnell, Rosie
Rosie Perez
See Perez, Rosie
Rossow, Danny

Veronica Mars fanboy. The Neptune equivalent of a Trekkie Questie Questarian, Danny experiences what most fans can only dream of: He not only witnesses his heroine in action, he can even help her solve a case by impersonating his manager! Those imitation skills sure might come in handy, should he ever need to apply for a job as Inga's substitute after the events of 3.05 "President Evil."

-grimsqueaker

Played by Ryan Pinkston.
Rousch, Ellen

Assistant Superintendent from District. She is in the know about official fire drill mandates. We only get to hear her dulcet tones but Veronica gets to mimic them. Oh really! Pull the other one Kristen Bell! We know it was you all along. Judge the result in 1.18 "Weapons of Class Destruction."

-Inigo

Rousseau, Madame

French teacher at Neptune High. She's been teaching forty years. Forty years, hmmm...we wonder if didn't-make-it-past-episode-nine Ms. Dent ever went to her for advice. Logan declares her in-depth profile would be a loving tribute to a sadistic crone in 1.18 "Weapons of Class Destruction."

-wyk

Roxie

Neptune High student and sister of Ryan who showed her cans for cash and all that jazz. Though, if she was played by Renée Zellweger, we'd have to go all Danny Boyd and ask "What cans?" in 2.08 "Ahoy, Mateys!"

-alliterator

Played by Kim Kutner.
Roxy

A chow and one of the lost dogs of Neptune.
The name on everybody's lips is gonna be Roxy.
The dog they're searching for in droves is gonna be Roxy.
She's gonna be a celebrity.
That means a canine everyone knows.
They're gonna recognize her eyes,
Her coat, her teeth, her ears, her nose.

At least, that's what the owner is hoping by posting her picture in 1.19 "Hot Dogs."

-Inigo

Rucker, Monte

Shady sports agent from Chicago. Monte (or is it Monty?) wants to make the deals for his nephew, basketball star Rashard Rucker, dreaming of the millions he'll make to spend in the casinos of Monaco. Anyone gets in his way, he will mark 'em for intimidation or get his revenge on those that mess with him and his progeny. Lacking the nobility and grace of a Private Prewitt, Rucker senior is a wannabe mountebank who is deserving of spam, spam, and more spam. (Pop quiz: How many Montes/ys can you spot?) He is smarmy in 2.12 "Rashard & Wallace Go To White Castle."

-Inigo

Played by Sterling Macer Jr..
Rucker, Rashard

The LeBron James of Trevor Hale High School and Wallace's best friend in Chicago. If you define "best friend" as "someone who frames you for running over a wino." He has a manipulative uncle named Monte and a liking for nubile girls and college frat parties. Wallace really went in the opposite direction with his friendships this time. The Poor Man's Michael Jordan gets a Poor Man of his own who runs over poor men in 2.11 "Donut Run" and 2.12 "Rashard & Wallace Go To White Castle" and whose shame is revealed to the Castle in 3.20 "The Bitch Is Back."

Rudolfo

He's the subject of one of the top stories in the Chicago Statesman. Who is Rudolfo? Some agent of a jolly fat man with his secret weapon being a shiny red nose? Or a Hitler impersonater who got the name wrong? What is the conspiracy at work here? Let's hope it involves Hitler's brain in an ape's body in 2.11 "Donut Run."

-alliterator

Rudolph, Dean

Hearst College tour guide/young man; may or may not share Logan's love for afternoon delight. Dean probably learned the importance of breakfast, hard work, family, and leaving a note when you finish the milk from his businessman father. Who sells...Toyotas. In...Illinois. That seems off, somehow. There has to be a huge mistake in here somewhere. Dean plays it straight in 2.16 "The Rapes of Graff."

-marksoflove

Played by Michael Cera.
Rufus

Dog. Veronica rescues this golden Labrador whose lost poster is in the park in 1.19 "Hot Dogs."

-Inigo

Ruggiero, Diane

Graduating Neptune High student. Apparently also a newspaper writer who plays golf with Woody "Keep your hands to yourself" Goodman, she might be related to one of the writer/producers on a certain awesome, but ratings-challenged, TV show about a teenage private detective, much like roughly half of the class of 2006. Gee, what an odd coincidence. Diane (the student, the writer, or the writer) is name-checked in 2.02 "Driver Ed," 2.07 "Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner," and 2.22 "Not Pictured."

Wallace's history classmate or a figment of his imagination. It doesn't matter, it is only Madison he has to scam in 1.11 "Silence of the Lamb."

-Inigo

Russell, Todd

He might be an agent at CAA or someone Veronica made up. She claims to be from his office to get the goods on Dylan Goran for Logan in 1.19 "Hot Dogs."

-Inigo

Russian Lit Student

Student at Hearst. This innocent student was just quietly lurking around the library. He was probably looking for some gossip to pass the time, since he needed a change from War and Peace. Unfortunately, he was not given this chance. Veronica and Bonnie obviously did not like his cologne in 3.12 "There's Got To Be A Morning After Pill."
