Who's Who of Veronica Mars — U

Ulysses

James Joyce's magnum opus about Leopold Bloom's and Stephen Daedalus's journeys through Dublin on June 16, 1904. It features infidelity, masturbation, and public urination. Pretty saucy for a book published in 1922. Max pretends to read it, but he's not thinking about the snotgreen sea, the scrotumtightening sea in 3.11 "Poughkeepsie, Tramps and Thieves."

Ulysses S. Grant
See Grant, Ulysses S.
Underhill, Mr.

Tolkien-inspired pseudonym used by Woody Goodman. Ew. We are vaguely surprised that Woody managed to keep his secret under wraps for so long, given that even his fake identities invoke the image of pretty-looking young boys. At least Keith Mars is more successful in catching his Mr. Underhill than the Nazgul were with theirs in 2.22 "Not Pictured"

The Unwashed

A dirty band. Okay, they're probably not that dirty, but their name implies as much. Maybe they're making a political statement. Or possibly they are just taking a literal meaning to the word "grunge." Anyway, the Unwashed aren't in need of a "wash me" sign as much as Piz's car is in 3.01 "Welcome Wagon."

Unwashed Singer

A musician who never takes a bath. No, wait, he's just the singer for the band . My mistake. The Unwashed need some soap in 3.01 "Welcome Wagon."

Played by Drew Robinson.
Urge Overkill

Windy City-based band. A well-respected alternative-rock duo, Urge Overkill sadly found their highest level of fame with a dark take on a Neil Diamond song. While the group is still together and writing music, they haven't released a single since 1995. Piz and his radio-station pals still respect them, however — sound familiar? Maybe Piz can look them up when he interns for Pitchfork, which is in Chicago, not New York. Our favorite DJ won't be a cartographer soon in 3.18 "I Know What You'll Do Next Summer."

Urkel, Steve

Ultra-nerd from Family Matters to whom Bone Hamilton compares his son. Urkel was supposed to be a one-time guest star, but because of his enormous popularity, he eventually took over the whole show. Somehow, we don't think that is going to happen to I'm-gonna-let-my-parents- think-Yolanda-might-be-kidnapped/raped/
murdered Bryce in 1.13 Lord of the Bling.

user444

One of the usernames Lucky used to email Woody Goodman. The "user" part is probably because he was unimaginative, but why the "444"? Was he meeting Satan two-thirds of the way? Some secret code, perhaps? DDD? GHI? Woody touched him 444 times? He probably just hit the number pad randomly in 2.21 "Happy Go Lucky."
