1.17 "Kanes and Abel's"

Aired Apr 05, 2005

In the beginning was with plot, and the plot was with the daughter of Abel, and the plot was...meh. The same was in the beginning with Kane. All things were manipulated by him, and without him was not anything hidden that was hidden. In Kane was Falsehood, and the Falsehood was the enriching of Amelia. And the Lies shineth in darkness; and the Mars's comprehended it not. There was a man sent from Kane, whose name was Clarence. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Lies, that all men through him might believe. And lo, in another place, came Jessica, who begat Sabrina, and Jim, who begat Hamilton, and all did battle for a place at the free scholastic buffet, and money and power did shineth in darkness; and Veronica comprehended it not.

Important Parts

  • Veronica helps a classmate who is being harassed.

  • Veronica finds Amelia DeLongpre before Clarence Wiedman does and hides her in a hotel room. Veronica tells Amelia about how her dad Abel is being paid money to say he committed Lilly's murder. That is the money that Amelia is getting, not a stock he invested in. Amelia doesn't know Abel is dying of stomach cancer and Veronica doesn't tell her.

  • Logan discovers Veronica's laptop with the information on the Lilly Kane case. His alibi is airtight: he was overseas and there are two witnesses.

  • Logan tells Veronica about a time he found Duncan choking Jake but when Logan tried to stop him, Duncan went limp and couldn't remember anything later. This happened the same week that Duncan broke up with Veronica.

  • Veronica imagines what would have made Celeste or Jake accidentally kill Lilly.

  • Veronica "sees" Lilly, who says that her parents aren't murderers.

  • Amelia gets her mom to send the paperwork that shows that they are being paid from Kane Software. She's going to give it to Veronica. Clarence Wiedman tracks Amelia down and gets the paperwork before Veronica does.

  • Veronica and Keith start working on the Lilly Kane case together. Keith tells Veronica that Jake Kane called Clarence Wiedman before he reported the murder. Keith also tells Veronica that when he first talked to Jake and Celeste, he heard the buzz of a dryer. Why would the Kanes do laundry when they have housekeepers? Inside the dryer was a soccer uniform.
