Is Lynn Echolls Dead?

Status: Closed?

At the Echolls' Christmas party, Aaron Echolls was stabbed by a scorned lover. He didn't die, but this incident would have long lasting repercussions.

The first was that the knowledge of his affairs was placed into the public eye. Lynn Echolls was no longer able to deny that her husband cheated on her, but appeared to stick by him anyway.

Then more stories started to appear in the tabloids, and Aaron went to Keith Mars to find out who was leaking the information. It was Lynn, trying to ruin Aaron's reputation. They had a bitter fight, where Aaron threatened to leave Lynn penniless and Logan threatened to kill his father. Lynn left in her convertible, popping pills.

Hours later, her car was found abandoned on a bridge and she was presumed to have committed suicide.

At her funeral, Logan revealed to Duncan he didn't believe it. She had left behind a lighter that had belonged to her father in the Korean War and was inscribed with "Free at last." Logan said it was a message. She always kept it in her purse, but that day she had left it on her dresser.

Logan then went to Veronica to help find Lynn. Veronica had all of Lynn's credit cards checked, but when a freshman student's video showed Lynn supposedly falling into the water, it seemed pointless. Until one of her credit cards was used.

Veronica and Logan tracked the credit card (the only one still under Lynn's maiden name of Lester) and found it had been used to purchase a rental car and a suite at a hotel. Logan camped out there, waiting until the person he hoped was his mom would come out.

Someone did come out of the room, but it wasn't Lynn Echolls: it was Trina Echolls, Logan's half-sister, who had "borrowed" Lynn's clothing and credit card. Which probably means that Lynn is dead.

Is there fallout? Absolutely. For some. Logan's loss of hope is bound to have ramifications for a young man who turned nasty when his girlfriend died. Then he blamed Veronica and made her life hell. Now he blames his father. Will he continue to stand to be beaten by the man who deprived him of his mother? Aaron grieves and says he will give up his movie star career, but is this real or is he giving another performance to add to his filmography? As for Trina? Frankly, she hardly seems bothered. After all, Lynn was just her bikini-parading stepmother. Storm warnings abound for this family.
