NBC5 makes a push in local ratings war

On CW33, the series finale of Gilmore Girls drew a healthy 95,200 homes from 7 to 8 p.m., beating the competing Dateline NBC. A new episode of CW's Veronica Mars then plunged to 19,040 homes, losing even to an Oprah repeat on Ch. 52.

Returning 'Veronica Mars' in a tumble
Media Life Magazine: May 2, 2007Media Life Magazine reports on the terrible ratings from yesterdays showing.
"Mars" averaged a 1.4 adults 18-34 rating, according to Nielsen overnights, off a third from the 2.1 for "Doll" last week. "Mars," which airs at 9 p.m., also lost a third of its lead-in from "Gilmore Girls" in that demo, while "Doll" actually built 11 percent on "Girls" last week. And "Doll," a reality show about finding a new performer for the famed sing-and-dance group, pulled roughly 1 million more total viewers than "Mars'" 2.4 million last night.
