"It took a double shot of night-time cold medicine to get her down. It also stopped her sniffling. She's pretty worked up about her boyfriend."
NyQuil, "the nighttime, sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, fever, sleep better to feel better medicine" is a wonder drug for those who can't sleep, even if it's not just for a cold. A double dose is enough to knock someone into a good, deep sleep that will likely make her miss the alarm clock in the morning. Not speaking from experience or anything, though (oh, and Gravol works pretty well, too, but we at MI.net are not medical professionals, and all of this advice should be taken with an entire shaker of salt). Veronica relies on this tried-and-true method to get Meryl to settle down and sleep, for which Meryl is likely very thankful, given that Veronica's preferred method of tranquilization usually goes by a different name.
